Whether for a desire to more strongly connect with those in their local communities or for fear of uncertain times, many people would prefer to have their needs met by those they trust in their local community.
The problem is that “buying local” usually comes at a premium price due business-related costs.
Bartering offers a unique opportunity to save money and build more trusting communities, not as an escape or alternative to the free market, but as a supplement to it.

With Live Barter Your Savings come from Your Added Value.
With cash payments, the only way to save on costs is by hoping the seller is generous enough to offer a discount.
With Barter, it’s the opposite. By offering something that only cost you $4 to produce, at an $8 market value, you can receive an $8 value in return at a 50% discount. So, you control your savings.
If you find something for a good deal, that’s an added bonus along with the taxes and business start-up costs you’ll also save.

Yes! There is a tremendous opportunity for local businesses to offer value without the “local premium.” We’ve created Local Business Profiles on Barter for exactly this purpose. If you have a business and are interested in how Live Barter can help, please contact us to learn more.
-
Yes! We offer a “Guest” Subscription that allows you to make a profile, list 2 items and connect with neighbors individually.

Barter is designed for real community, not random internet strangers. As we say often, “Trade with those you Trust.”
So the app is foremost built for connecting with those you’ve met in the real world.
However, we also recognize situations where meeting through the Barter App is appropriate. There are two ways to do this:
First, Neighbors and Homesteaders can join communities created by friends. In those communities users can be introduced to one another via the mutual friend who started the group.
Second, Neighbors and Homesteaders can apply to join a public, local community created by us at Live Barter. There users can meet those nearby and see what they have to offer.
We strongly encourage users to exercise caution concerning what they Barter and where to meet when meeting someone new. Remember, Trust is best when grown in time, not given all at once.
